It was named by it’s discoverer after his daughter Larissa and mar, meaning sea, where he had first found the stone washed up on the beach. Larimar is a rare and unique pectolite, its blue colour and resemblance to the sea comes from cobalt or copper substituting for calcium. This calming crystal carries a strong energetic connection to dolphins and the sea, reminding us to embrace change and go with the flow.

Larimar is a sodium calcium silicate mineral with a hardness of 4.5 to 5. It forms in cavities within basaltic lava and comes only from the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean Sea
