Larimar is a rare and unique pectolite, its blue colour and resemblance to the sea comes from cobalt or copper substituting for calcium. Larimar is a sodium calcium silicate mineral with a hardness of 4.5 to 5. It forms in cavities within basaltic lava and comes only from the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean Sea
