Aragonite, also called tufa and tchazar crystal is named after the Aragon River in Spain where it was first discovered in 1788. Interestingly it forms the skeletons of some marine creatures both living and fossilised and secreted by molluscs it forms the lustrous mother of pearl in shells and nacre in pearls. The most popular Aragonite for metaphysical uses are the reddish star clusters from Morocco or the blue specimens from China. Aragonite was traditionally used to bring a stabilising effect to adolescents, helping them to be more patient, responsible and channel their energy productively.
