History and Uses

Cavansite got its name from its chemical composition, calcium vanadium silicate. These beautiful little “puff balls” range in colour from deep ultramarine blue, to aqua and bluish green.

It was first found in 1967 in Malheur County, Oregon USA. It is a relatively rare mineral with the best specimens coming from Poona in India.

It is believed to be a wonderful ally to support us through major life changes. Similarly, it is thought to help us make sense of previous experiences, look at the past in positive ways, and be comfortable with our actions.

Geological Description

Cavansite is a hydrous calcium vanadium oxide silicate with a hardness of 3 to 4. It occurs as prismatic or tabular crystals in rosettes. The finest deep blue specimens come from Poona in India.
